Bobcat Compact Tractor CT440 Engine Removal & Installation Guide

This instruction show you guide on how to remove and install 4A220LWH engine for Bobcat compact tractor CT440.

 

Procedures:

Separate the tractor.

Drain the radiator.

Remove the air cleaner assembly.

Remove the muffler.

Remove the overflow hose (Item 1) from the radiator (Item 2) and bracket (Item 3)

Remove the two bolts (Item 1) and reposition the overflow tank (Item 2) to the front of the radiator.

Disconnect the fuel shut off solenoid connector (Item 1) and fuel pump connector (Item 2)

Remove the hose (Item 3) from the radiator.

Disconnect the wire (Item 1) from the thermostat housing.

Unplug the fuel sender (Item 1), cut the tie strap (Item 2) and release the harness (Item 3) from the clamp (Item 4)

Release the harness (Item 1) from the clamp (Item 2) and unplug the relay connector (Item 3), operating control unit connector (Item 4) and fuel sending unit connector (Item 5)

Unplug the three connectors from the relays (Item 1) and release the harness (Item 2) from the clamp (Item 3).

Remove any tie straps securing the wire harness to the firewall.

Remove the connector from the oil sending unit (Item 1).

Remove the two wires (Item 2) and connector (Item 3) from the starter.

Remove the tie strap (Item 4).

Unplug the connector (Item 1) and remove the wire (Item 2) from the alternator.

Remove the engine harness.

Loosen the lower radiator hose clamp (Item 1) and remove the hose (Item 2) from the engine.

Remove the tubeline (Item 1) from the oil cooler.

Remove the mounting bolt (Item 1) and remove the tubeline (Item 2)

Loosen the hose clamp (Item 1) and remove the hose (Item 2) from the thermostat housing (Item 3)

Remove the fuel line (Item 1) from the fuel pump.

Support the fuel tank assembly

Mark the two fuel lines (Item 1) and remove from the fuel tank.

NOTE: Install caps and plugs.

Remove the two mounting bolts (Item 1) (both sides).

Remove the bracket mounting bolt (Item 1)

Lift and remove the fuel tank assembly

Place a stand (Item 1) under the front of the frame.

Support the engine using a hoist and lifting chain

 

Raise the engine with the hoist. Remove the support stands (both sides) from the flywheel housing and install onto the left side using the two bolts (Item 1) and right side using the two bolts (Item 1)

Remove the frame bolts (Item 1) (both sides).

Installation: Tighten the bolts to 78 – 90 N•m (57 – 67 ftlb) torque.

Lift and remove the engine.

Installation: If a new or remanufactured engine is being installed, the paint on the engine mounting surface must be removed.
