How to Program/Add Keyless entry transmitters for ISUZU N-series Truck

Here is procedure for adding keyless entry transmitters for ISUZU N-series truck.Also included is the clearing procedure for customers who have had transmitters lost or stolen. This procedure may be used to clear all transmitters from the Keyless Entry Control Unit.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

  • 2016-2024MY Isuzu N-Series Vehicles Equipped with 5.2L Diesel Engines
  • 2015-2018MY Isuzu N-Series Vehicles Equipped with 3.0L Diesel Engines
  • 2018-2024MY Isuzu FTR Vehicles
  • 2018-2020, 2022MY Isuzu N-Series Vehicles Equipped with 6.0L Gasoline Engines
  • 2020-2024MY Isuzu N-Series Vehicles Equipped with 6.6L Gasoline Engines

 

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

These procedures must be performed at the driver’s door and require the vehicle engine control switch key.

If you are adding a transmitter, follow the procedure entitled “Adding Keyless Entry Transmitter.” If you are replacing a lost or stolen transmitter, follow the procedure entitled “Clearing Keyless Entry Transmitters.” When using the Clearing Keyless Entry Transmitter procedure, be sure all new transmitters are present with the vehicle.

 

Before starting, confirm the following conditions:

  • The engine control switch is in the “off” position and the key is removed.
  • All cab doors are fully closed.
  • The driver side door manual lock button is in the “unlock” position.
  • The key is out of the door lock cylinder.
  • The transmitter button is not being pushed.

IMPORTANT: READ AND UNDERSTAND ENTIRE PROCEDURE BEFORE STARTING. Programming is time sensitive.

Adding Keyless Entry Transmitters

NOTE: It is necessary to go through steps 1-10 for each transmitter being added.

 

1 Open the driver door. Do not close the driver door until instructed.

 

2 Use the driver side door manual lock button and lock and unlock the door one time.

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 1.

 

3 Insert key into engine control switch.

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 2.

 

4 Tum the engine control switch to the ON position and then to the OFF position two times.

Do not start the vehicle.

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 3.

 

5 Remove key from engine control switch.

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 4.

6 Press and release the driver door ajar switch six (6) times.

 

Note: This step must be completed within 30 seconds after step 5.

 

Listen for confirmation.

You should hear the driver door automatically lock and unlock two times, which means the vehicle is in keyless registration mode. Once the vehicle is in this mode you have only a 10 second window to register a transmitter per steps 7 and 8.

7 On the transmitter, press and release both the lock and the unlock buttons at the same time.

8 On the transmitter, press and release either lock or unlock button.

 

Note: Steps 7 and 8 must be completed within 10 seconds after step 6.

 

Listen for confirmation.

You should hear the driver door automatically lock and unlock two times.

9 Programming is complete. Close the driver door.

 

10 Check function of both the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter to confirm programming.

 

Clearing Keyless Entry Transmitters (Only perform if a remote is lost or stolen)

 

1 Open the driver door. Do not close the driver door until instructed.

 

2 Use the driver side door manual lock button to lock and unlock the door one time.

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 1.

3 Insert key into engine control switch.

 

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 2.

4 Turn the engine control switch to the ON position and then to the OFF position six(6) times.

Do not start the vehicle.

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 3.

 

5 Remove key from engine control switch.

Note: This step must be completed within 10 seconds after step 4.

6 Press and release the driver door ajar switch seven (7) times.

Note: This step must be completed within 30 seconds after step 5.

The hazard lamps will flash five (5) times.

This indicates that the clearing of the keyless entry transmitters is complete.

7 Close the driver door

8 All transmitters are successfully removed from the Keyless Entry Control Unit.

If the old transmitters are available, verify that they do not work by pressing their lock and unlock buttons (and confirming that nothing happens).

 

Go to Adding Keyless Entry Transmitter to program new transmitters.
