When you find your DPF warning light on,you need to perform below procedures to keep your Diesel Particulate Filter work normaly.Otherwise you will find the DPF waring light wil flash, and soon later the DPF will be blocked and the your engine acclerate slowly.
You can read Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) Knowledge All Here to learn more info about DPF.
*1 Dont’t ignore a warning light,it should be possible to complete an active regeneration cycle and clear the warning light by driving for 10 minutes or so at speeds over 40mph.And remember over 40mph and the RPM(revs) of your engine is at least 2500 RPM.
*2 Drive in 3rd gear
*3 It recommad to get on motorway.Do it when it’s safe to do so please.
*4 Keep driving for at least 10 to 15 minutes even after warning light is gone if you do not the light will come back on very soon.
Feedback about this solution from reader:
1. That is a solution but if dpf is blocked for long time this is useless unfortunately.
2. When it doesn’t work your car will go into limp mode. Then it’s time to visit the mechanic. Here is a guideo on Ford Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Static Regeneration Guide by specialist device.
3. This should be done regularly right from the start and not wait for the light to come on. The secret is to keep the RPMs up regularly even on local roads. Do that and you’ll never have an issue with the DPF.
4. Just did something similar with a bmw 520d drove for about 40 mins like this and the deleted the dpf code with scanner, all the power is back now, very pleased.
