A clogged and faulty fuel filter can cause poor engine performance. When they get completely clogged you may be left with an engine that doesn’t run at all. If you are getting an error code for the pump make sure to replace it right away before it leaves you stranded on the side of the road. Here I want to share fuel filter for Mercedes Benz C350.

Mercedes Benz C350 Fuel Filter Replacement:
Begin by opening the fuel filter door and removing the gas cap. This will help relieve pressure in the system.
You will need to disconnect the fuel line from the pump to replace the filter. In our project car so you need to access both the filter and pump. Both are located under the rear seat with the pump on the right side (red arrow) and the filter on the left (yellow arrow). You need to remove the rear seat, see my article on bench seat removal:How to Replace Bench Seats for Benz W204
There are two fuel lines that need to be disconnected from the fuel pump to the right side (red arrow). Please see my article on fuel pump replacement:How to Replace Fuel Pump for Mercedes Benz C350
With the rear seat removed you can see the access cover for the fuel filter.Use a 8mm socket and remove the four bolts (red arrows).Lift the cover off taking care to peel away the sealant gasket around the wiring connection.
The filter is located under the access cover.Begin removing it by disconnecting the two electrical connections (red arrows). Then give a good cleaning around the retaining ring and lid.
You will need to remove the locking ring that holds the filter in place in the gas tank. While Mercedes makes an expensive tool for doing this if you are careful you can use a large flathead screwdriver and small hammer and gently tap the ring back off the tabs.Use the holes in the outer retaining ring and tap evenly around the entire outside of the ring.Do not just start hammering away on one spot.Instead, continuously move around the ring.
There should be a witness mark on the ring (red arrow) that will let you know when it is fully locked (the one on the photograph is unlocked). With the ring unlocked remove the fuel line by squeezing in the tab and lifting it off the filter (yellow arrow).A little fuel will spill out so be prepared to catch it and dispose of it correctly.
Remove the retaining ring and note the position of the filter in the tank. The large tab on the front of the filter must face towards the front of the vehicle (red arrow). You can now lift the filter out from the tank.Use care that you do not bend or damage the left side level detector (red arrow).Remove the filter with the hoses to the pump (yellow arrow) attached. The fuel pressure sensor is attached to the top of the filter and can be transferred to the new filter by removing the retaining ring and installing it the new filter. Please see my article on fuel pressure sensor replacement:How to Replace Fuel Pressure Sensor for Mercedes Benz
Installation is the reverse of removal.Make sure that the lid is positioned and sealed correctly.
