Possible Customer Complaint/Question Normal Condition Description
Vehicle does not go into stationary regeneration mode or does not continue to regenerate. When performing stationary regeneration, it may be difficult to notice the vehicle is actively regenerating as the engine RPM increases to 950 RPM for the first two minutes, and then drops to 700 RPM until regeneration is completed.

To verify regeneration is in process look at the MID display for the amber “REGEN. IN PROGRESS” light. The light will stay illuminated while the regeneration is in progress and will go out when regeneration is complete.

During stationary regeneration engine RPM drops to idle. Prior to 2022i, engine RPM would increase to 950RPM for the entire regeneration process.

With the MY2022i vehicle, engine RPM still increases to 950RPM, but, only for the first 2 minutes of the regeneration process.

Upon pressing the DPF switch the “REGEN. IN PROGRESS” illuminates in the MID display and stays on until the regeneration completes.

Oil dripping down left side of bell housing area. Prior to 2022i the PCV system was equipped with an oil separator.

With the introduction of the 2022i engine the oil separator has been replaced with a catch cup assembly that requires inspection every 10,000 miles (16,000 km). If the oil level in the cup exceeds 10 mm (0.4 inch), clean the cup.

See the applicable workshop manual for additional information.

Steam/vapor coming from the crankcase vent tube. Condensation from inside the crankcase will turn to vapor when the engine warms to operating temperature, and this vapor will escape through the crankcase vent tube near the catch cup. This condition is normal.
The fuel appears discolored in the sedimenter. The new sedimenter has a “See-through” water separator body with red tint. Some customers may mistake this tint as some type of fuel contamination. This colored appearance is normal. Additional changes to the sedimenter include increased filter size, standard fuel heater and extended maintenance interval.
The customer requests installation of an accessory that needs access to the fuel tank supply. The new stainless steel fuel tank is equipped with 3/8” auxiliary ports in the top of the tank for fuel supply and fuel return.
What are the unfamiliar lights illuminated in the Instrument Panel (IP)? The truck may have new optional vehicle assist features.

• Electronic Vehicle Stability Control (EVSC) – Standard

• Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) – Factory Optional, including:

• Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS)

• Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) – new for the 2023 model year.

See Graphic Symbols in the applicable workshop manual to identify the various lights.

See the applicable workshop manual for additional information.

Where is the Hydro Boost Brake (HBB) fluid reservoir or how to check Hydro Boost Brake fluid? Hydro Boost Brakes (HBB) have been replaced by the Vacuum Booster and Electronic Braking force Distribution (EBD) system.

Vacuum boost brakes use vacuum to decrease effort required by driver when applying brake pedal pressure.

See Functional and Operational Description under the Vacuum Booster Brake System and Functional and Operational Description under the Anti-Lock Brake System sections in the applicable WSM for additional information.

Does my truck have a Limited Slip Differential (LSD)? All affected models are equipped with Electronic Anti-Slip Regulation. This standard equipment serves a similar function and replaces the mechanical LSD previously available as an option.
