No.1 Water on Floorboards after it rains
There is a common reason why these tend to have water on their floorboards. Usually it comes down to the a-pillar seal which is located along right here.
Generally what you’re going to see is a nice soft rubber seal that’s right along this area, it’s suppose to do a pretty good job of keeping moisture out. Unfortunately it won’t do good job all the time. You’ll notice that moisture makes its way down and inside, then run down along the side and end up on the floorboards. To fix it, usually replace that seal and add improved gasket. If there is water on the floorboard, you need to get all that up and out of there asap.
No.2 Four-wheel Drive Unit Leaks
Front differential , rear differential and transfer case leak
On the front differentials, you’ll tend to find a leak coming along this right here.
If you see fluid coming out of the end of the tube that essentially means that your axel seal ruined. To fix it you need to take apart your front differential and remove both axles to replace the seals.
The seals next on the differentials you might also notice that your pan gasket’s leaking. You’ll see a drip coming along the bottom.
And if you were to look along the back side of the front differential you’re going to be able to find your pinion seal.
A lot of times that’s going to be the area where your drive shaft is going to go into here and if debris gets inside there, it’s going to obviously cause an issue with the seal. Essentially for the differential it’s going to be approximately the same type of issues an exception of the fact that the axle seals are going to be located closer to the wheels.So if those are leaking, you could potentially get gear oil on your brakes.
In the center of the jeep is transfer case.
The transfer case have a couple different seals. There are both of output shaft seals that’s where your drive shafts go to your actual transfer case. If debris makes its way inside there,it will also ruin the seal and cause the leaking.
The symptoms for all of this, either you’re going to see drips on the ground, maybe a little be of a puddle, or even some noises coming from your four-wheel drive units differentials and transfer cases. To fix these, you need to find the corresponding leak and then fix that seal.
No.3 Ignition Cylinder
It’s located right along here on your Jeep.
Usually what happens with these is dirt and debris make its way inside of the hole where the key is supposed to go and it causes a short circuit and then doesn’t function the way that it should anymore.
Luckily for us they came up with an updated ignition cylinder which is going to help make sure that we keep all that moisture and debris out of there.
No.4 Starting Issue
Generally if you’re having an issue with starting, it’s going to come down to the WCM or the wireless control module. Inside of these Jeeps they have a theft system, essentially what it comes down to is inside of your key, it has a little chip and that chip that’s inside the key needs to be able to communicate with the wireless control module. If some reason they don’t communicate well then it’s just not going to start up the jeep because it thinks that somebody’s trying to steal it and they’re trying to put in a different type of key. If it fails, usually you’ll need to replace that WCM or wireless control module. And when you do that, you’re going to program it, so it works with your key.
No.5 Exhaust Manifolds
Typically what happens on exhaust manifolds is they tend to crack.
A reason why they might tend to crack could potentially be because defects in the metal ,maybe an air bubble inside the casting when it was formed or the fact that as exhaust manifolds heat up they tend to expand,maybe you go splashing in a couple puddles it’s going to contract that metal really fast and you could potentially get a crack.
If your get a crack on your manifold, you’re going to have t just replace it. Sometimes if you go to replace manifolds, you might happen to find that you break a couple studs that hold the manifold to the engine.
